A brief history of Progressive music..

Picture
Basking in the glow of a golden sun, somewhere in the quiet backwaters of a spiral arm on the opposite side of our galaxy sits the fabled planet of Prog.

Far beneath it's tranquil, unsullied surface toil the Proglodites. For countless aeons they have tirelessly hewn only the choicest notes from deep within the bowels of the planet.
Brought to the surface, the notes are then borne aloft by brave Proglanauts to the upper reaches of the Proglosphere. High in the rarefied air, the notes are bound securely to the tails of tethered comets.

Once a year the comets are released with much pomp and ceremony to blaze there way through the stars.

As these musical emissaries traverse the heavens, some particles become detached and reach the Earth as the Perseid and Geminid showers, streaking across the night sky as shooting stars.

Given time, these interstellar travellers percolate down into the ears of unsuspecting souls, where they bury themselves deep, and incubate in the dark recesses of a mind.
Eventually these gifted but largely misunderstood individuals are compelled to become musicians, so that finally notes born a million light years distant in the depths of an alien world, can realise there true potential, and be added to the rich and limitless tapestry of music we call....Progressive.
